Home

So my short trip home to Madison went way to quick. It was so nice to see everyone and catch up face to face. Its funny, coming back here this time was harder than leaving home the first time. I am not really sure why, but I think it has something to do with the fact that I don't really have any sort of routine here yet. It seems as though the last few months have been some what of a vacation. I have been meeting new people, seeing new places and discovering new hobbies. As much as I am a non-planner and love to just live day to day, I guess I am discovering that I also need structure. In these next few months I hope to get more involved in my new community in order for it to really feel like home. I want to start volunteering in my neighborhood and/or church, take a pottery class, discover one of the many cute little bookstores or shops in my area. I know I like it here, now I just need to work on making it feel more like my new home.

Last Week In Pictures

A day in the city exploring downtown Denver, the Denver Art Museum, and the Coors Brewery.

Sunday I shared my new hobbie with Jo and Nick. The crew (Dustin, Chris and Katie) that is helping me learn joined us for the afternoon.

We managed to find one of the few Culvers in Denver for dinner..mmmm

Off to Boulder for a day of hiking in the Flat Irons.

We spent the evning at my friends Jill and Steve Fisks. Isacc was showing us how to break dance in this video!

Off to Winter Park to show Nick and Jo where the real snowboarding takes place. Unfortunately Jo's adventure was cut short due to a broken wrist!

After a long day of snowboarding there is nothing quite like taking a soak in the Hot Sulfur Springs!

I had to take Nick and Jo to this grilled cheese place I had heard about. It serves about 25 different grilled cheese sandwiches made with Wisconsin cheese! It was delicious, and the atmosphere made you feel right at home.

Home again home again! Jo and Nick flew out on Friday eve...but I will see them again soon!

Road Trip?

I was just told by my manager that we should resubmit our vacation request for 2009. 5 weeks! How in the world do you pick 5 weeks that you want off so far in advance. So I started searching for flights to various cities to check for great deals. I would love to go visit my friends the Cheeseman's out in Cumming, GA but tickets are not that cheap. That got me thinking...what about a road trip? I have always wanted to visit the "Deep South"! So here is the MapQuest search that I did, it would take around 23hrs to drive straight through, but I would never do that (not on the way there anyway). Think of all the flee markets and antique stores that would be on the way. I would love to take in the culture, food, and music of Mississippi and Alabama! Just thinking about it gets me excited. It's just a thought...end of March, anyone? =)

Happy New Year!

Do not ask me why I am not in bed yet. Well OK I'll tell you. I intended to come home after my 12 hr NOC shift slip into my PJ's and catch as many zzzzz's possible before I had to head to the airport to pick up Nick and Jo. Well my phone went on the fritz! The screen will show me nothing, which means I know nobodies phone #'s! Yes technology it can retain all knowledge for you...but if it breaks down, well your screwed! So I decided to run out and check out new phones since it is about time I get one with this new area code anyway. So I picked up a new phone which includes my lovely government discount! I also decided that I better run to the grocery store since my company may not like the fact that all I have been eating is fruits, veggies and beans. So I ran up a hefty grocery bill...man meat really adds on the $$$.

So now I am home unloaded all the groceries and am feeling way to wired to sleep...but I have to work again tonight! AHHH! You would think I would be especially exhausted because I found out with my lab results the other day that I am very anemic. I guess its back to meat and Iron supplements for me! So I will go snuggle up in bed and try and let myself fall off to sleep...we have a big week ahead of us! I will keep you posted!
